The explosion in a moving autorickshaw in Mangaluru on Sunday was an ‘act of terror,’ according to Karnataka Director General of Police Praveen Sood.
The DGP stated in a tweet, “It’s now official. The explosion was not an accident, but rather an ACT OF TERROR with the intent to cause serious damage. Karnataka State Police, in collaboration with central agencies, is conducting extensive investigations.”
State Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said those injured in the blast were receiving excellent care. They are unable to communicate.
The Karnataka police worked 24×7 as the investigation into the Saturday evening auto rickshaw bomb in Mangaluru led them to Mysuru, Hubballi, and Tamil Nadu. While the preliminary investigations have led state police commissioner Praveen Sood to proclaim it an “act of terror”.
The blast was triggered with a cooker equipped with a detonator, cables, and batteries, according to details.
The Chief Minister stated that new information became available when the police tracked the suspect’s original residence and the sites where he had stayed.

In addition to the state police, officers from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) have joined the investigation. A four-person NIA team has arrived on the scene and is coordinating with the police.
Meanwhile, police officials stated the suspect secured a mobile SIM card using the forged Aadhaar card discovered near the explosion site. They claimed he used that SIM card everywhere. According to sources, five teams have been dispatched to various areas, including Coimbatore, to examine the issue.
